Kevin Rowley

In 2004, Kevin was a member of the Next Step to Gold Triathlon Development Team.  Athletes from across the country were selected to be on the team based out of Clermont, Florida.  The purpose of the team was to provide Olympic hopefuls a training environment that would help them excel to the next level.  The team focused on racing in International Triathlon Union (ITU) point races.  By earning points at these races an athlete becomes eligible to race in ITU World Cups, ITU World Championships, Pan-American Games, and eventually the Olympics.

Kevin raced in ITU Point Races all across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.  He earned ITU points in Puerto Rico with a 6th place finish and that gave him his first ITU points and also his first World Ranking.  2004 was a very successful season for Kevin and having teamates and Coaches helped in that success.

Unfortunately, the team did not continue in 2005 due to lack of funding and sponsorship.  Next Step to Gold was a great concept and provided a great training environment.  Some of the team members continue to chase their dreams and race in the ITU Circuit today.
